The horse drawn carriage stopped abruptly, and Madam Mournington stepped out. She handed the driver a few coins and with a wave of her hand, told him to leave. The snow covered everything in a white duvet, and she hurried inside. It was no visiting day, so the hall was empty and quiet. She had been gone for quite a while. She needed a break from this place. She was proud of it, but sometimes it was too hard to listen to the screams when she wandered the halls. But she was ready now. A long vacation in the countryside was what she had needed.
