Full name: Atticus Ravensdale
Nicknames: Atti
Race: Human, Caucasian
Sex: Male
Age and birthday: 24. November 17, 1817.
Personal belongings: Military-issue dagger & a photo of his troop.
Abilities: Sharpshooting, outdoor survival, & good with a sword
Personality: Atticus is a very quiet young man. He doesn’t go out of his way to interact with people because he isn’t sure how to respond & isn’t very good with emotions. He can be quite arrogant and does his best to project an arrogant persona to make people dislike him. Atticus likes to study people and will attempt to mimic their emotions if he sees they yield positive results, usually in social settings. Love is something that is both present and yet not quite there for him. He loves his family and passed on friends, but doesn’t understand why anymore. Hate is something that comes much easier, but it’s a quiet kind of hatred reserved for things he sees as most foul. Deep inside, Atticus is filled with self-loathing and uncertainty of why he exists and where he belongs in the world.
History: Coming from a large family, Atticus had no shortage of things to do as a child. He has 14 other brothers and sisters, all of whom serve or promote the military in some fashion if they are of age. The Ravensdale family is well-off and has served England for generations. Atticus’s father is a colonel in the British military while his mother takes care of the children with aid from servants and the older children. Since he was a child, Atticus wanted to join the military like the rest of his family. His older brothers taught him how to hunt, what plants were safe or poisonous, and numerous other things essential to basic survival. Atticus learned how to shoot a rifle at an early age, along with swordplay. Once he turned 16, he felt he was skilled enough to join the military and lied about his age to get in. Upon completing his basic training, Atticus was stationed in the British-Indian colony of Burma. He did quite well and was very close to the soldiers in his troop, considering them honorary family members. During this time and his childhood, his emotions, while under-developed, were not as severe as he is currently.
He served roughly 7 years when he experienced the worst day of his life in late 1840. A hazy afternoon found him and 2 of his closest friends hunting chital deer for the night’s dinner. They’d wandered further away than their usual hunting grounds in the hopes of finding larger prey. It wasn’t until the screaming began an hour later that the men realized they’d entered a tiger’s territory. Atticus’s other friend ran to shoot the tiger out of shock & rage, only to be attacked after merely wounding it. Feeling like he was out of his body, Atticus silently walked closer to the tiger. It saw him and the two locked eyes for a few tense seconds with the tiger ready to pounce and Atticus ready to shoot. Just as it leapt, Atticus shot the ravenous tiger. With a calm that still unnerves him, he brought the remains of his friends back to the town nearby. His calm did not break until night came bearing horrific dreams. After nearly killing his bunk mate and having to be sedated, Atticus was deemed unfit to serve and was honorably discharged from the military. Loathing the idea of a sedimentary lifestyle, Atticus looked for jobs and found the Asylum for Wayward Victorian Girls, hoping to be a member of security.
Looks: Atticus is fair-skinned and has a clear complexion. He is clean-shaven and has short, choppy jet black hair that he cuts himself. He stands at 5’8” and weighs roughly 145lbs. Atticus’s eyes stand out the most, being bright blue almost to the point it looks unnatural and his gaze tends to be unintentionally severe. He has an average build and is very toned/muscular due to keeping to his daily training regimen. Atticus tends to dress in average work clothes, preferring neutral colors (grey especially). He is very clean and hygienic.
Weaknesses: Recurring nightmares involving tigers and the talking corpses of his friends haunt him. Every so often, something triggers that moment in time and he is reduced to thinking he must survive on his own while fighting his way through a den of tigers & other predators. Atticus is emotionally stunted and does not understand how to act around civilians. He is stuck in the mindset of pure survival and usually acts as a soldier would. As a result, he is rather obedient when given orders. Atticus feels lost when he is not focusing on survival.
Important memories: The death of his two friends from the tiger attack.
Languages: English and basic conversational Burmese
Characteristics: Functions on cold logic. Uses arrogance to aid in emotionally isolating himself from others (by appearing dislikable). Keeps a strict regimen to keep himself healthy and to distract from his thoughts.
Other: Suffers from Post Traumatic Stress & survivor’s guilt. He is also an excellent basket weaver.
I have read and accepted the rules: Yes.
