Doctor Bramsfield sat in the swirls and enticements of music, perched delicately on an old settee in the corner of his office sawing away at his newly repaired antique violin, sending a lilting celtic tune across the hollow space of his very unoccupied front office.
His clawlike fingers danced across the bridge, tapping over this string to trill, rocking back and forth to create a vibrato there, sliding here and shifting there. For once in a long time, he expressed and air of youth, of an energetic history rooted deep in irish culture as his jig reached a crescendo. An old dance, long since lost along with the memories of his long-dead young husband, coming back reincarnate in the hollow body of the violin he played with expertise.
His mind could only hear the music, his eyes only saw a dark past far beyond the bookshelf his gaze was absently fixed upon as he focused solely on the tune at hand.

The winter wind outside loudly howled against the window, as if it were trying to whistle along or be louder than the doctor's violin. The snow that blew with the wind piled up on the window pane, only to melt from the warmth emanating from the room.
The window began to rattle against the force of the wind. Quietly at first but grew into a violent shaking that threatened to shatter the glass.
Suddenly- but not expectingly- the window flew open. Wind rushed in with such force that a few books flew from the shelf the doctor was looking toward, along with many papers on his desk.

"My gods, again? I told Vaudier to fix those damn hinges!!" The Doctor growled angrily as he set his violin down softly and stalked off to repair the damages, forcing the window shut against the harsh wind as he shivered through his thin muslin shirt, his lower half staying warm in his cotton trousers.
He sensed a presence in the room, but paid no mind as he bent over to collect his important documents and books, frustrated with having to stop before the end of his song.

A quick screech filled the room. It lasted only a fraction of a second. It was the screech of the bow of a violin being swiped across the strings by a person who doesn't know how to play the instrument.
That sound was followed by the rattling of what sounded like small metal bits and the echo of a hollow wooden box being handled.

"WHAT in GOD'S NAME?!" Doctor Bramsfield's heart skipped a beat and he scrambled towards his work bench where tools and boxes were being scattered about by an unseen force. His precious violin was askew on the floor, and he could see cracks and scrapes in the newly redone resin coating.
"Show yourself!!" He said, voice quivering, "I'm not afraid of you!!" Conviction laced his voice with poison as he growled softly, picking up an old saw

The sound of something heavy and metal dropping from a high height onto his desk was followed by an eerie silence. It pushed some more things onto the floor and flakes of brown chipped off the iron.
The doctor recognized it as the manacles from a certain night in the garden. Complete with dried blood from a certain lunatic.

"Son of a...." He stared with bulging eyes at the bloodied old manacles, probably dripping with tetanus from the layers and layers of rust, "Where did..." He managed to mutter backing up. Wynter would be in bed, he was sure she wouldn't be up anytime soon.
"What in the WORLD is going on here?!" he screamed angrily

One side of the manacles lifted as if someone were holding them in their hand. They hovered there for a while of stunned and horrified silence as if waiting for the doctor to realize what has going to happen next.
They flew toward him- thrown by the unseen force- aimed directly at his head.

He managed to duck to avoid serious damage, but the side of the rusty manacles clipped the side of his temple, sending a ringing pain through his head. His jaw clacked roughly as he fell backwards, and took a charge loosely at the desk, retaining a speed that would not prevent him from stopping when he needed to

As he moved, he stepped through a part of the room that was colder than it was outside. It chilled him to the bone. To add to the frozen air around him, he felt icy fingers ever-so-lightly brush against his cheek, leaving his face feeling like something cold and wet was on it.

"Eugh!! Is it those damn rats pissing from the rafters again?!" He groaned, but shuddered violently. It didn't feel like rat urine on his cheek. It felt, almost like...almost like a sickening caress of some form. He spun around and approached the spot of cold more cautiously, reaching out softly towards it

He felt the same sensation again, but instead of a touch so light it could have been due to his imagination, a frozen, iron grip clamped around his wrist. He could see now what the cold wetness was on his face as it now decorated his arm in the shape of a hand print.
It was blood. He wasn't sure whose blood, but it was blood nonetheless.

"My gods!! Chasers!!" He screamed, hoping his head chaser Vaudier would come to aid them. When nobody came, he panicked more. He tugged desperately at the hand gripping his wrist, and tried to get away, "Who the fuck are you?!" His green eyes looked about the room, trying to find the culprit.
An idea struck him as he saw the bloody handprint still gripping his wrist. He reached over with his free hand to his large inkwell, lifting it and tossing its contents in front of him. To his surprise, the black substance found purchase on something, splattering back at him and creating an eerie black form, something like a face.
"Who are you?!!"

The face smiled. The ink wasn't on what would have been it's teeth, which only managed to make it more sinister looking. It leaned in closer until the apparition's ink-soaked nose was almost touching Edward's.
It opened it's mouth and spoke in an earsplitting screeching voice, "Don't touch her!"
The ink dropped to the floor (but since the being was so close to Edward most of it got on him.) and the vice grip on the doctor's wrist disappeared. The room was quiet as if nothing had happened.

"What in...Who?!" He stuttered as his heart faltered. He couldn't take this. Was he dying? Was this a ghost come to reap his evil, wretched soul? Something stopped for a moment, and he felt himself thump to the floor, everything faded out into black. His heart skipped a few beats, and the blood left his head, as though it was recoiling into his body, deep into his core.
