Gasping, Lenore awoke from a sudden noise. She shook and was covered in a cold sweat. The girl looked to Bramsfield, her eyes wide with receding fear. The mirror world had been in her head! Her bloody head of all places! Would it come again? She hoped it wouldn't. Lenore couldn't recall a more horrifying experience since her first and only time scrying. Never again. Never ever again.
"...Doctor? I had the most awful dream! But, wait... are you really you? How will I know you're you and not the you from the mirror?"
Lenore curled up and hugged her large book tightly to her, feeling the sensation of cold only nightmares could give.

"Oh hush your mouth" he said bitterly, returning to the book spread open in his lap, "I don't need any of your troubles."
Though he silenced her, worries were spreading rapidly through his mind. What if she really was part of his nightmare? It surely seemed she was. With anxietal indignancy, he lifted the book up, propping it in his hands to hide the inmate's face from immediate view, hoping she and the memories of that horrid nightmare would simply just disappear.

Lenore made a little growl of annoyance. This was definitely the Doctor Bramsfield she was familiar with. Who else could be so grumpy? Lenore had a strong feeling they shared the same dream, although trying to convince the doctor of that would be like pulling teeth. She didn't have the time to pull teeth. Who knew when the next nightmare would come? Still, if he was going to be stubborn, then she may as well warn him.
"Doctor, I won't give you any of my troubles, but if you'd like to keep your own under control then I suggest you avoid gazing into reflective surfaces."
With that said, Lenore set her book down, hopped up, and went over to the shelves. Though chances were slim to none, she hoped to find a book on demonology or anything pertaining to the supernatural and phantasmagorical.

Edward peered up over his spectacles, watching her dart about in search of some sort of book. He took a breath in preparation to ask if she needed assistance, but thought better of it. No reason to trifle with her more than necessary.
It seemed like hours passed before his mind had once again wandered back to reality out of his chronicles. Had he forgotten entirely about the inmate for so long? The sun which had seemingly just moments ago risen was now far below the horizon and the library was pitch black. Perhaps he was alone, now. Perhaps he'd earned some privacy after all.
With a relieved sigh, he lit a candle, the light of which struck the pale face of Lenore, who stood over his shoulder like a hawk. He shrieked in shock and recoiled away from the chair "My gods! How long have you been standing there?!"

During the hours that passed, all Lenore managed to find was a book on ghost stories. Still, it was good enough. Stories always had a nugget of truth if one was clever enough to find it. Having seated herself in one of the aisles between the shelves, she poured over the book.
She must have fallen asleep. When she awoke, it was too dark to read by. Lenore carefully stood up and stretched her stiff muscles. Did Doctor Bramsfield fall asleep too? Or maybe he left without her. Mr. Jackal seemed to have left her as well. Perhaps he was off trying to woo Mrs. Hippo again.
She jumped when she heard Bramsfield's voice cut through the dusty air. Sounds like he didn't leave her at all. The girl had been so lost in her own thoughts that she hadn't clearly heard what he shouted. Lenore curiously walked over to the candle light to see if he was okay.

"Good gods! How long have you been standing there!" He clutched his chest desperately, shuddering harshly as he relaxed yet again into his chair in exasperation.
How typical, being snuck up upon. It was these girls he loved to ravage best. And would she protest? Mm. Only time would tell. He peered up over his spectacles at her, gazing through ginger bangs. "Can I help you, my dear?" He cocked a sadistic smirk, scratching along her chin with a smooth nail, sinking into the pool of a wonderful new personality.

"Sorry for scaring you, Doctor," said Lenore.
She laughed awkwardly. It was good fun being able to sneak up on people, even on accident. It was a testament to her skills at stealth. Still, it was best not to tell him that. Who knows how the strange doctor might take it? Although something was odd. Why was he being nice and why was he touching her face? Weird. Just weird. He was kind of like this when he was examining her while in his office. Frowning, she replied to him.
"I was wondering if this place had any books on demonology or the supernatural."

"You're not entertained merely by my company?" He grinned, cocking a naughty eyebrow "I would think that you would be far more interested in a man like me."
His voice burned with something near agony, but not quite pain. However, his eyes told a different story. He couldn't name why he felt such a biting desire all of a sudden, but in an instant it was gone. Numbness overtook him. His body slipped into laxe relaxation that welcomed him like an ocean of relief.
"Mm...I'm tired..." he stretched softly, limbs shaking with the force of the powerful tension that accompanied his brief stretch, "but now. If we do, look for yourself."

Lenore stared at him in confusion. It was like flicking the switch to a gas lamp on and off and the doctor definitely got switched off. But what in the world had switched him on in the first place? Maybe it was the shock and sudden rush of energy from when she scared him. That had to be it.
"I'll take a look, thanks." She bounded over to the nearest bookshelf, but before she began searching, she looked back at him. Smiling awkwardly she said, "Also... I don't think you'd find me to be good company. Men don't interest me."
Lenore resumed her search of all things arcane and ancient. Ideally, she hoped to find that book by Sir Walter Scott. It may not have her own helpful notes and diagrams written in the margins, but it would have to do. Assuming the Asylum had it. She paused again and looked back at the tired doctor.
"You should really get some sleep, sir."

"I can be quite the persuador when needed" he growled in a tired whisper, ripples of electricity running through his spine.
He needed to go to bed. But he couldn't leave the girl alone, even to fetch a chaser. Vaudier would be in Bramsfield's office watching Aeodhan. Maybe he could drag her there and have Vaudier take her away. With a nod of conviction, he rose from his chair, stretching his back with his arms stretched hi o'er his head. He turned to lurk the shelves, peering around each corner for Lenore.
"Do come along now, and take that shift off for me. I must make sure you haven't stolen any books."

A light and cheerful laugh rang out. Lenore looked over at him and smiled brightly.
"Don't be silly, Doctor! I've no place to put any books."
She grabbed the hem of her shift and fluttered it lightly to demonstrate. Honestly, hiding a book under her shift. Doctor Bramsfield had quite the sense of humor! She couldn't even hide a small book if she wanted to. Lenore wished that the Doctor showed his sense of humor more often. He really was quite funny.

"Now." He said bitterly, stamping the heel of his boot, "You'd be surprised at who can hide what in the most surprising places."
His eyes roved her body, and he felt a smirk curl up his lips, acutely aware of the books she had clutched behind her back and at her feet in the darkness. With an unabashed hand, he snatched the hem of her shift and tugged downward, the thin and weak straps snapping away as it fell at her ankles.
He let out a deep, rasping laugh as he shoved her away "Follow me, now." He tugged her wrist as he jerked the naked girl from the library "We must go. It is time you go back to your cell.

That stare. Lenore remembered that predatory stare. She jumped slightly when he stamped his boot. The noise felt quite loud in the silence of the library.
She frowned. He looked like he wanted to eat her again. Lenore did not like that look at all. It was a look that meant he wasn't joking around. When he suddenly reached out to her, she tried to move back but wasn't quick enough. He'd broken straps to her dress and she was now horribly exposed. The startled girl wondered why he would bother. She didn't have a very feminine figure and therefore was not desirable.
Now he'd grabbed her and was forcing her along like some kind of dog. Lenore Sinclair was no one's dog. Setting any notions of modesty aside, Lenore tried to jerk her caught wrist back and aimed a kick for Bramsfield's lower set of ribs.
"I will not go anywhere until I receive a new shift, Doctor!"

"It's funny, you think for some reason that I'm going to defile you" came a sneering jab "I wouldn't even if I dared."
With no hesitation, he tugged her that final few feet into his office just a few doors down the upstairs hallway, slamming the oak doors behind them. Vaudier peered out of the lavatory, brown eyes inquisitively wide.
"Can I 'elp ya?" He asked, looking to Lenore with an innocently sedated stare towards her more private of features.
"Get this wretch back to her cell." Snapped the Doctor, keeping a firm, tight grip about her forearm, long nails digging into her skin where they would surely leave impressions.
When she exchanged hands, he sighed with the basest of relief, shuffling away without hesitation to the back roomof his office to deal with his pre-bedtime duties.

"My mistake," she growled, feeling like her dignity had been stripped off along with her shift. In addition to that, her kick missed from the Doctor's relentless tugging. Her day was certainly ending in a downward spiral.
Lenore looked distrustfully at the man coming out of a lavatory when the Doctor yanked her into the office. Noticing the glazed look about the man's eyes, she determined he was harmless at the moment. Unfortunately, harmless doesn't necessarily mean weak. It wouldn't be in her best interest to try to escape, especially since she didn't have proper clothing to combat the cold.
'No thanks to a certain ginger,' bitterly thought Lenore as the new man took her arm. While the Doctor may need his sleep, she would have to do without for tonight. If she could find some suitable make-shift tools in cell, there would be quite a bit of work that needed to be done. Lenore figured Mr. Jackal would be waiting there for her and ready to help if she needed it.
The cold and nude girl let out an exasperated sigh. She didn't like Doctor Bramsfield's sense of humor anymore.
