(This thread is continued on from Wynter and my roleplay. Details of what happened within PMs leading up to this point can be found in the thread "Elisabeth Margeret Reed's Admission" or whatever.)
Edward could not suppress a yawn as Vaudier shuffled into the room. "Come," he motioned with one quivering, bony finger as he beckoned his head chaser. As the young man approached him, he began his barrage of orders.
"Firstly, get those goddamn chasers out of the hallway and back to their posts. You, Willian, Thomas, and Berkeley may retain your stay, as you are my personal team of chasers. Everyone else must leave. Second," he glanced pointedly at Wynter, "It is to be known by all persons under my employment that the woman sitting beside me is my wife. She is not an inmate, nor is she to be treated as one. Any man found disobeying either of these rules will be immediately removed from the payroll and subsequently sent away from the asylum permanently." He said, the string of sentences growing more weary as he went.
Talking was a chore in and of itself. Suddenly, he recalled what he had summoned Vaudier for to begin with. "And please, I wish to have the spare cook sent up to the guest dining suite just across the hall. Have her bring up a sample of what ingredients we have in stock, and send out Willian to purchase what we do not have." He whispered hoarsely, and his voice crackled to a close as he swallowed dryly. "And a pitcher of water, please, if you will."

Wynter sat beside him smiling softly at his words. She heard all the chaser rush from the next room to their posts and a sigh of relief left her lips. "I love you darling," she said as she kissed him on the cheek. She stood up and then sat back down as quickly as she stood up. She had been getting very dizzy lately when ever she stood up and she wasn't sure if it was the lack of sleep or the baby making her so faint.

Within a few moments, he heard Vaudier return with their water, and he assumed that the cook would also be up momentarily. "I love you too Wynter." He said softly, feeling the shiver that had been controlling his shaking hands slowly spread throughout his weak body, and he winced as he fell back against the mattress, his body giving up entirely and falling limp amongst the sheets.

Wynter snapped around to face her husband, "Darling? Are you okay?" she asked holding his hand.
Vaudier put the water down on the table next to the bed and looked over him with concern as well, "what's wrong sir?" he asked.

"Just... tired." He panted softly as he turned limply to the side and relaxed his tensed muscles. His nightgown had ridden up a bit, and his severely emaciated state was made clear to the two pairs of eyes watching over him. He shut his eyes tightly in pain as the stinging began to spread over him, his body having ignored it up until now. It nearly blinded him as his eyes watered and his body twitched with the shockwaves of pain that rolled over him in pulses.

Wynter pulled the blanket up over him and tried to make him comfortable. "Would you like some water love?" she asked not know if he would be able to drink right now.
Vaudier stood ready with a cup of water just in case. "The cook should be up soon," he said.

"I don't feel that I can at the moment...but I fear I must, lest I get any weaker than I already am," He said quietly, slowly and steadily propping himself up on his elbows for a moment, enough that he could grab the glass softly from Vaudier's hand and drink slowly from it, making sure he finished the entire glass. It hurt to fill his stomach so much after so long, but he knew that each drop was vital to keep himself strong.

"You should rest now, love," wynter said smiling down at him sweetly. She held his hand gently sitting on the edge of the bed.
Vauldier took the cup from him filling it up again and sitting it on the bedside table. "I'll bring food in when the cook has prepared it. You should follow what your wife said and rest now, sir."

"Thank you for your concern Vaudier," He patted his hand softly and mustered a smile, his head falling back on the pillow as he gazed up lovingly at his wife before shifting a bit to nestle his head against her side. Almost instantly, he fell into a restful sleep, thankfully dreaming after nearly nine days ofdeep unbroken slumber.

Vaudier bowed and walked out the door, shutting it behind him. Wynter smiled fluffy the pillow up and laying down next to him gently, careful not to touch him. Sleep came to her quickly as she snuggled next to him, happy to know that for at least awhile he was okay.

A few hours later, the rich smell of exquisite food filled his office, and his eyes fluttered open. He'd had Vaudier assign the spare chef to cook a rich meal as a celebration of their first real day together as husband and wife. His body was awake before his mind was. He had to use the loo. He nudged Wynter softly, kissing her cheek to let her know he was fine and would return shortly, and did his best to rise from the bed and stand on his wobbly legs. Luckily, his lavish bed was against the wall, and the chamber pot was not a far shuffle away, so he was able to use the wall to support himself on his way there and back. He returned a few moments later to the bed, which he welcomed like an old friend, collapsing onto the goose-down mattress happily.

Wynter moaned sloftly in her sleep at the movement of the bed. Her eyes fluttered open as he almost jumped back into bed. "Love....did you get out of bed by yourself?" she asked sitting up and wiping her eyes of sleep dust, though she was still very exhausted. "Ow...." she cringed yelping a bit as the baby kicked one of her ribs.

"I used the wall as support," He said quietly, "When duty calls, carpe diem..." He chuckled weakly, gesturing to the 'privacy corner'. "Go back to sleep. I'm fine," He said quietly, "But food will be ready soon and I will require your help to cross the hallway." He looked down at the two wedding bands around his finger, and ran his thumb over both of them, one old and one new. Two loves in his life, both of them the greatest things that had ever happened to them. "I had a surprise prepared for you my love."

"You know we could have them served to us in bed love?" she giggled kissing him on the cheek and then laying back down. "Love you darling," she said as she snuggled into the covers, still holding her stomach because the demon child wouldn't get out of her ribs. She groaned softly in pain because of it.

"Watch," he said softly as he ran his hand up her side softly, pausing at the top of her belly and pressing, extremely gently and cautiously, shifting the child's position only slightly so it had somewhere else to nudge that wouldn't hurt her as much.
"It's about the only useful thing I learned from my father when my mother was pregnant with my sibling. She had a miscarriage." He said quietly, almost sounding proud of the fact. "But don't think that means it was because of that technique," He added after a long pause, laughing softly.
